Sunflowers of Kansas

After having lived in Kansas – the Sunflower State – for 17 years I finally managed to get pictures of some sunflower fields in late summer of 2023. Sunflowers only bloom for a short period at the end of the summer and for many years I missed this period.

The best time to take photographs is during sunrise and sunset, when the sun is just above the horizon. Early evening can become somewhat crowded with people taking pictures of themselves with the sunflowers in the background, or simply the sunflowers by themselves. The early hours of the morning are a lot quieter.
