Grinter Farms – Sunset

Grinter Farms has some of the better-known sunflower fields in eastern Kansas. Located on Stillwell Road, off U.S. 40 between Lawrence and Tonganoxie, this is an iconic place for folks from Lawrence and Kansas City to visit. It can get quite crowded during the evening hours. Because of the crowds I did not get many photographs of the fields themselves, but there were some interesting sunflowers!

For decades, the farm has dedicated acres to grow the cheery sunflowers alongside tall stalks of corn and fuzzy soybeans. Farmer Ted Grinter harvests the flower heads for bird seed, but according to his, the real joy comes from sharing these beautiful sunflower fields with the public.
